As Long as the Rivers Run: Tribal Fishing Rights

In connection with the special exhibit on Vashon's native people currently displayed at the museum, Vashon-Maury Island Heritage Association will present a one-hour documentary film on the fish-ins of the '60s and '70s, followed by a panel discussion among Puyallup tribe members, including some who were present at the protests. This year is the 40th anniversary of the Boldt Decision, upholding the tribal fishing rights guaranteed by the 1854 Treaty of Medicine Creek.
