Dance to Live Music

Beginning Wednesday, March 20th from 7:00 to 8:30 PM you will get a chance to come and have fun dancing to the music of Solarwind and friends. We are a small group of improvisational players, and like the energy from the Sun we bring the beauty of the present moment to life through music.

Since the beginning of time, the rhythms of Nature have welled up in us to express itself as music, dance and art. The beating of our hearts, the birdsong of the morning and the echoes of the grand canyon. The clouds dancing across the sky or water falling to the rocks below. All these things give us the inspiration to re-create and expand on the beauty around us.

The evening will be comprised of musical vignettes such as “Total Eclipse” which is a piece inspired by George Gershwin’s “An American in Paris”. Instead of the musical impressions of a young man’s adventures in a big city, the musical movements of Total Eclipse takes us on a journey through the Universe itself. Spiraling through multi-colored gas clouds, witnessing the birth of galaxies or getting a little too close to an exploding sun. This is music that inspires the expression of life.

For the first dance, we would like to encourage everyone to bring colors to dance with. Ribbons, fabrics, streamers and yourself. As we travel through life, we are literally colors dancing in the Universe.

Come dance with us Wednesday nights from 7:00 to 8:30 starting March 20th at the Ober Park performance space. Tickets are $5.00 at the door. Kids are welcome. We’ll be a little informative and a lot of fun.

Co-sponsored by The SourcePoint Studios and The Vashon Park District.
