Don Giovanni, Mozart's second collaboration with librettist, Lorenzo DaPonte, was first performed in Prague in 1787 and is considered by many opera lovers to be "the greatest opera ever written". This opera, the story of the last 24 hours in the life of the amoral seducer, Don Giovanni, amazingly combines scenes of uproarious comedy with scenes of tender pathos and with a final scene of astonishing terror.
