Tickets are $10 individual/$25 family and include stories, sweet and savory treats, raffle prizes, musical delights of flautist Larry Lawson, and more. Available at Vashon Bookshop and brownpapertickets.com

This family-friendly event features the masterful storytelling of Gene Tagaban, Merna Hecht and Shane Kenode. Hosted by humorist and provocateur Steffon Moody, the StoryFest is a fundraiser for the VWP Scholarship Fund. More than 40% of VWP’s students receive tuition assistance each year.

Gene Tagaban is an inspirational speaker, performer and storyteller. He has been sharing laughter and learning for more than 20 years with thousands of people across the country. He has shared hos stories at festivals and special events including the “Seeds of Compassion” gathering in Seattle, WA with the Dalai Lama, and the Nature Conservancies 50th anniversary with Jane Goodall.

Merna Hecht is an award-winning poet, storyteller and arts and literacy educator, who has built her life work around the vital role of story and spoken word in communities and cultures.

Shane Kenode is a hip-hop artist, storyteller, and youth mentor who works with story as a spoken medicine used to heal people and their relations.
